2024 Ford Focus Future Under Question Mark After Production Ended in Germany

Buyers in the US probably almost forgot about the Focus sedan and hatchback. This vehicle is still very popular in the rest of the world, especially in Europe and Australia. But, things can change with and after the 2024 Ford Focus. According to reports from Germany, the company’s department plans to cut down the production and make more space for building electric cars. The Focus is not facing discontinuation yet, but this is not a promising step.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Ford Focus remains the same. If the company decides to update the hatchback, then we can hope for a few more guaranteed years in the market. The car debuted in 1998, and the following generations were launched in 2004, 2007 and 2010. When the fifth generation arrived, the company announced that they quit car production in the USA. Still, fans across the ocean love the compact sedan and hatchback. It is also popular in rally races.

The company refreshed the styling in 2021. It was not a big redesign. The offer depends from country to country. Some notable models are Vignale, ST-Line, and ST Performance. Petrol engines available for the car are 1.0 I3, 1.5 I4 and a turbocharged 2.3. Oil burners are still in use outside the US. For the Focus, there are a 1.5 and a 2.0 configurations.

Specs

A 1.0-liter turbocharged inline-three engine is the new powertrain for the Focus. It also serves great on the smaller Fiesta hatchback. Its main advantage is the efficiency. The small block can produce 85/100/125 horsepower and still return nice fuel economy numbers. Manual and automatic transmissions are available. Also, you can upgrade the I3 unit with a hybrid system. In this case, the fuel economy and power are getting a boost. Available configurations are 125 and 155 hp.

A 1.5-liter I3 mill is an upgrade. A naturally-aspirated version can do 120 horsepower, while the turbocharged engine bursts 150 and 180 hp, depending on the setup. The fuel economy is still good – 45 mpg (US). It is not much worse than the 2024 Ford Focus hybrid (up to 55 mpg), having in mind you are getting extra power.

Diesel engines can also be found under the bonnet. A 1.5-liter mill delivers 95-120 hp and 220 lb-ft. The fuel economy is way better with the oil burner, but there are other issues you are facing. A 2.0-liter displacement increases power to 150 hp, while the newest configuration squeezes 190 ponies.

2024 Ford Focus ST

The 2024 Ford Focus ST is the best model in the lineup. It is a sport-tuned configuration. You won’t find upgrades under the hood only, but also around the body and inside the cabin. However, it all starts with the engine boost. A 2.3-liter turbo unit is good for 280 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. The 0-60 acceleration time is just 5.5 seconds. Of course, there are unique suspension and brakes configurations, special wheels, hood and front grille, sport seats and steering wheel, large infotainment screen, and many other details to complete the image. The ST-Line is a lighter variant without the mighty engine.

If you are looking for a more elegant approach, the 2024 Ford Focus Vignale is the right choice. It brings premium leather, a panoramic sunroof, advanced safety and infotainment gear, and heated/cooled seats, for example.

2024 Ford Focus Release Date

The market that the 2024 Ford Focus is covering is huge. The car is well-known across Europe, and there are a few plants around the world that build the vehicle. But, the most recent news is that Ford is removing the Focus from production in Germany. The US company is making more space for electric vehicles. Could this mean the car is near discontinuation in Europe too? Ford is not announcing anything yet. Anyway, the 2024 YM will be in showrooms soon.
