If the rumors are true, the 2020 Ford Fusion will not get a redesign as the first reports suggested. On the other hand, the good news is that the Blue Oval carmaker will not ditch this mid-size sedan. Of course, the future of Ford Fusion is still questionable. Latest rumors are saying that this sedan will grow in size and compete in the compact SUV segment. But for now, the 2020 Fusion will arrive literally the same as the current model.
With that in mind, people are wondering what is the point of the 2020 Fusion. The exterior really looks great and there is no real need for the redesign, however, the interior could get a technology boost. As in the past, Fusion comes in four trim levels and the Ford Fusion Hybrid model is available as well, which is a great addition.
The Same Exterior Design
The exterior will remain and there will be no updates at all. With that in mind, we will mention that the Platinum models are offering more chrome materials and much upscale presence. The Fusion Sport model is also available and it comes with the mesh grille, body-colored wheels, and standard fog lights. Moreover, 17-inch alloy wheels are in the offer, along with the LED auto-headlights and LED taillights. The interior will also remain the same and there won’t be any updates.
The base engine under the hood of the 2020 Ford Fusion is still a 2.5-liter Duratec. This four-cylinder unit can produce 175 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission is available. The optional drivetrain is the powerful 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine that delivers 330 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque.
A hybrid variant will use a 2.0-liter Atkinson engine. This engine solely generates 140 horses and up to 190 hp in a combination with an electric motor. The fuel economy will see a huge increase, around 43 mpg.
2020 Ford Fusion Rumors
The 2020 Ford Fusion will not get a planned redesign. The fans of this mid-size sedan are worrying that this could be the end of the popular Fusion model. However, Ford didn’t say that this means cancelation, it is just that the redesign won’t happen. According to sources close to Blue Oval company, Fusion will grow in size in the near future. With that in mind, Ford is planning to increase the size of the mid-size sedan and make it an SUV. Of course, this is just a possibility and the speculation for now. But to be honest, no one knows what will happen with the Fusion model.
Price and Release Date
