The latest rumors are saying that the 2020 Lincoln Continental will be the last Continental model. Unfortunately, this rumor makes perfect sense as the sales of the luxury sedan have hit the rock bottom. Even the redesign in 2017 didn’t help. On top of that, some other rumors are suggesting that Ford is planning to switch to rear-wheel-drive setup and bring bang the suicide doors.
If the news are completely true, the 2020 Continental will start its last production in Flat Rock Assembly plant in Michigan. This sedan will arrive with more standard features and it will be more expensive than the current model. It may sound like a strange piece of strategy but those standard features should justify the price.
2020 Lincoln Continental Exterior Facelift and Colors
This four-door sedan will get slight exterior refinement. The 2020 Lincoln Continental will look more upscale than its predecessor, no doubt. However, the upgrades are barely visible. Continental will get more chrome details around the front grille. On top of that, exhaust tips are made of chrome and some other inserts are present as well.
All of the metallic exterior paints will be optional and Continental offers up to twelve different exterior colors. Metallic colors are Black Velvet, Blue Diamond, Burgundy Velvet, Ceramic Pearl, Chroma Crystal Blue, Iced Mocha, Infinite Black, Ingot Silver, Magnetic Gray, Ruby Red, and White Platinum. Next, to that, you can opt for the famous chromoflare option or Chroma Caviar Dark Gray Premium Met color.
Interior and Safety
Because of the price increase, we are sure the 2020 Lincoln Continental will get more standard interior equipment. Besides that, the overall comfort will be much better and after all, this is a luxury sedan. Plenty of chrome and wood details are present, along with the gorgeous ambient lighting.
Blue Oval carmaker says that all of the models will get standard adaptive cruise control and emergency braking. Moreover, a rearview camera and blind spot monitoring will be standard as well.
The things under the hood will stay unchanged. That means the 2020 Lincoln Continental will ride on a powerful 3.7-liter V6. This unit delivers 305 horses and 280 lb-ft of torque. It will use a 6-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is rated at 17 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
