After the Ford Transit Custom debut, the Blue Oval manufacturer is ready to introduce the passenger version in Europe. Yes, we are talking about the 2024 Ford Tourneo, MPV. And like the panel van variant, Tourneo will have multiple engine choices. You can choose between diesel, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric models.
At first glance, Tourneo is just like the Transit Custom model, but only with the rear windows. The interior is very similar, and even the exterior design is familiar. It is a model for Europe and it will go on sale next summer.
Ford Tourneo Redesign
The upcoming 2024 Ford Tourneo is, like we said, the Transit Custom model with rear windows. There is also the Active variant with a more crossover-like appearance. It wears recognizable plastic cladding, roof rails, and skid plates.
The Sport trim level will offer unique bumper and side skirt extensions. Furthermore, there is the Titanium X version, which is the most premium one, offering larger 19-inch alloy wheels and matrix LED headlights. No matter which trim level you opt for, all powertrain options are available.
The cabin of the 2024 Ford Tourneo will feature a lot of upscale things. For a start, there is track-mounted rear seating, which is perhaps the highlight of the interior. The Tourneo Custom variant has three rows of seats and a room for eight passengers. This is for the EV model, while diesel and plug-in hybrid models have room for nine occupants. You can fold the rear seats or totally remove them, so various interior configurations are possible.
Tech-wise, Tourneo MPV will provide a nice-looking dashboard with a 13-inch touchscreen, running on an SYNC4 infotainment system. Moreover, there is a digital instrument cluster. Optionally, you can opt for additional storage compartments, a wireless charging pad, and ambient lighting. Generally, the interior is spacious, modern, and comfortable. On top of that, Ford offers numerous driver assistance aids for improved safety.
Tourneo and E-Tourneo Custom Specs
As we just mentioned, the 2024 Ford Tourneo will have numerous powertrain options. The most popular variant should be the E-Tourneo Custom, which is an all-electric model. This model sits on a new platform with an independent rear suspension. It is a single-motor configuration and it can produce 215 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. According to Ford, E-Tourneo Custom will have 4,400 pounds of towing capacity. With a 74 kWh battery pack, this MPV will provide around 230 miles of driving range.
You can charge the battery in eight hours, using the regular onboard 11 kW AC charger. Furthermore, Tourneo is compatible with a 120 kW fast charger. There is also a plug-in hybrid model. This version uses a 2.5-liter gas engine and an electric motor. An 11.8 kWh battery will allow around 30 miles of all-electric driving range. Lastly, the EcoBlue diesel engine is available, offering three different outputs: 134 hp, 148 hp, and 168 hp.
2024 Ford Tourneo Price and Release Date
The all-new 2024 Ford Tourneo will arrive in mid-2023, per reports. However, the all-electric model will reach European dealerships in early 2024. The price is not available at the moment, but Ford will reveal more details in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
