Spied 2020 Ford F-450

The all-new 2020 Ford F-450 is the real workhorse in the pickup truck segment. Its versatility and reliability are astonishing. In order to keep up the pace with the competition, new F-450 will host some updates. In that way, Ford’s Super Duty lineup will try to be one step ahead of rivals such as Chevy Silverado HD and Ram HD.

The arriving 2020 F-450 will mirror some updates from the light-duty F-150 model. However, most of the changes aren’t visible due to a heavy camouflage. On the other hand, spy shots are showing minor exterior upgrades and the rumors about the new engine are plausible now. The interior will also get small updates, mostly technology upgrades.

Spy Shots

As we mentioned, Blue Oval automaker will try to mirror the exterior design of the F-150 pickup truck. It means the light-duty design will be applied to a Super Duty lineup. The result is a more appealing truck with plenty of modern cues and features. The latest spy shots are showing us some of the exterior upgrades, not all of them. However, even under the heavy camo, we can see some changes.

For the start, the grille is more open and it sports a large Ford logo in the middle. New headlight design is visible as well, along with the more sculpted tailgate in the back. The taillights are modernized too. Thanks to various body styles, you can opt for the 2020 Ford F-450 with more seats or a version with fewer seats and cargo box.

Engine Specs and Rumors

The 2020 Ford F-450 comes with the same engine lineup as the current model. However, some rumors are suggesting a new powertrain option. We’ll get to that later. The 6.2-liter Hemi V8 remains standard engine choice and it can produce 385 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. Optional 6.7-liter PowerStroke unit is more popular and more recommendable choice. The diesel engine is capable of producing 450 horsepower and 930 lb-ft of torque. A class-leading number.

Now, the rumors are saying the standard and somewhat aging 6.2-liter V8 will be replaced with a 7.0-liter V8. This V8 powertrain produces 288 horses and 424 lb-ft of torque. While it seems the all-new engine is weaker than the current one, it provides much better fuel efficiency. However, this is still a rumor that needs to be confirmed. Also, a new 10-speed automatic transmission could be in the offer.

2020 Ford F-450 Platinum

Platinum is a range-topping trim level of the 2020 Ford F-450 pickup truck.  This premium pickup comes with plenty of standard features and equipment. From the outside, it adds more chrome details and the look is more modern than on the other trim levels.

A twin moonroof is standard and safety is even better now. Two-tone color schemes and unique design are looking very upscale. From the inside, comfort is guaranteed thanks to the leather upholstery. Moreover, larger displays and voice commands are available too.

2020 Ford F-450 Price and Release Date

Blue Oval carmaker still refuses to reveal full pricing details. The current F-450 model costs $47,500. Knowing that the 2020 Ford F-450 will probably cost slightly more. The range-topping Platinum model costs $75,000. This pickup truck will hit the markets later in 2019.
