Blue Oval manufacturer unveiled the brand-new Puma crossover last July. It is a revived model that was once a three-door hatchback. Now, Puma is back, as a crossover. We already wrote about its arrival. Moreover, the 2021 Ford Puma ST is coming to the markets. This sporty variant will bring plenty of visual and performance upgrades. This week, the first spy shots emerged online.
The same photos are showing a vehicle for what we believe is the Puma ST variant. The best part, the prototype didn’t wear camouflage at all. Thanks to that, we can see what new Puma ST has to offer. Expect numerous refreshments, even under the skin. This sporty crossover will hit the dealerships later this year.
2021 Puma ST Spy Shots
The lack of camouflage reveals so much about the new 2021 Ford Puma ST. For a start, this crossover comes with a very athletic stance and sporty appearance. Numerous modifications are visible at first glance. Puma ST will arrive with a black spoiler tip and a larger intercooler behind the front bumper.
The rear part will host dual-tailpipes setup with a larger roof spoiler. A small diffuser is also visible, along with the tinted rear window and sporty side skirts. Unlike the regular Puma crossover, ST will also provide a lower ride height. 18-inch wheels will be offered as standard.
Interior Design
Inside, the new 2021 Ford Puma St will look like the regular model. Of course, some parts will depart. However, the infotainment touchscreen, dashboard, and HVAC controls are exactly the same. On the other hand, Puma ST will introduce sporty Recaro seats and sportier steering with. Moreover, you can expect additional carbon fiber trims on the center console.
Puma ST will use a Sync3 infotainment system, and its instrument cluster is all-digital. The seats are available with red contrast stitching and the ST badges. Ford will also deliver a unique performance-graphics and, most likely, a brand-new gauge display. If you are choosing between Puma or Fiesta ST, have in mind that Puma ST offers more interior room.
Puma ST Will Borrow Fiesta ST Engine
If the reports are correct, the upcoming 2021 Ford Puma ST should borrow an engine from the Fiesta ST model. It is a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine. Thanks to a turbocharger, this unit is producing 198 horsepower and 215 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission and the front-wheel-drive system will be offered as standard. Fiesta ST accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 6.5 seconds.
Heavier Puma model will need slightly under seven seconds for the same distance. Blue Oval manufacturer will also deliver a launch control system, limited-slip differential, and larger brakes. Puma ST will offer a top speed that is rated at 135 mph, and we are waiting on more info about the possible dual-clutch transmission.
2021 Ford Puma ST Price and Release Date
Unfortunately, the 2021 Ford Puma ST won’t be offered in the United States, at least for now. This sporty crossover will go on sale later this year in Europe. Its price should start at $30,000 or slightly above that, which is more than Fiesta ST.
