Now, the newest photos are showing a redesigned Fusion as a conventional sedan. This probably means the Fusion model will not arrive in the United States, although it is a possibility.
Yes, Ford is giving up on sedans and hatchbacks, but you can still find good examples such as Toyota Camry or Honda Civic. These two models are showing that there is hope when it comes to the popularity of regular cars in the U.S. However, Fusion will probably take a different turn and it will be sold in Asia instead. It will have a hybrid powertrain, which is great. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know.
Ford Fusion Hybrid Redesign
The latest spy shots of the 2023 Ford Fusion Hybrid are showing a completely redesigned model. This sedan will undergo some serious modifications, which is a good thing. We are shocked, as the spy photos are showing a conventional sedan, instead of a brand-new crossover. This means the Fusion Hybrid model is heading to China, where sedans are still a thing.
Whatsoever, the Chinese market recently got a redesigned Ford Taurus model as well. While the spied prototype didn’t reveal that many details, we can confirm that the design will be similar to the Lincoln Zephyr. This model is 196 inches long and it has a 114-inch long wheelbase. The Fusion Hybrid will feature similar proportions.
Interior Overhaul
The most reliable reports are saying that the 2023 Ford Fusion Hybrid will gain a new interior as well. However, don’t expect anything unique as the new model will heavily borrow stuff from the Ford Evos and Lincoln Zephyr. That includes both the cabin design and the list of standard and optional equipment. Anyway, this is a good thing, and it is an important upgrade from the previous outdated interior.
Now, the new Fusion will feature larger standard and optional touchscreen options and a more modern dashboard. The real luxury will be offered exclusively in the range-topping trim level. On the other hand, the base variant will probably have basic stuff such as cloth seats, Bluetooth, a smaller display, and usual driver-assistance aids.
Engine Specs
A hybrid powertrain is not a novelty for the Fusion model. However, the 2023 Ford Fusion Hybrid will bring some improvements. We don’t know all of the details right now, but this model will now use a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine. The same gasoline unit powers the Lincoln Zephyr model. It is a turbo-four engine, working with a hybrid system and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Reportedly, the new Fusion Hybrid will produce up to 235 horsepower. This is a serious improvement over the previous hybrid system that provided 188 hp. However, we are more interested in mileage, but we don’t have any info regarding fuel efficiency.
2023 Ford Fusion Hybrid Release Date, Price
The sales of the 2023 Ford Fusion Hybrid will officially begin later this year. This sedan will be sold in China and it will share a lot of features with the Ford Evos crossover. Ford Fusion Hybrid in the United States is very unlikely at the moment, although this is not official yet. On the other hand, Fusion Active could arrive in the United States, which is great. However, the price is still not available, so we are waiting for official details.
